NGCBC ANNUAL CLUB COMPETITIONS

COMPETITION RULES

1. The Competition shall be open to all paid-up members of the Club.

2.  The Competition will be played on three levels;

  i. Men’s Singles

  ii. Ladies Singles

  iii. Mixed Pairs

3. Members will be invited to enter for the Competition during April each year.

4. The draw to establish the order of matches will take place in May at a suitable club session in the presence of members.

5. The Competition will begin on the 1st Monday in June.

6. A chart will be exhibited to allow members to follow the progress of the Competition. Each Round will have a published cut-off date when matches in that Round must be played. Any match outstanding after that date will examined by the Committee who will decide on the player to advance based on the number of occasions that player has made him/herself available to play the outstanding match. The decision of the Committee will be final.

7. It is emphasised that it is the responsibility of entrants in the Competition to arrange mutually agreeable dates to play outstanding matches before the cut-off date. The Committee will take no part in arranging matches but will from time to time remind competitors that matches have to be played.

8. The Committee will arrange for a mat to be set aside to accommodate the playing of a match in the Competition. This may mean that club members have to sit out whilst a match is being played. The Committee may designate any of the four mats for this purpose.

9. Preliminary rounds in the Competition will be played over 5 ends. Semi-finals will be played over 7 ends, and Finals over 9 ends.

10.  The Finals in all three levels of the Competition will be played on a Monday or Thursday afternoon on a date to be decided by the Committee in December in conjunction with a pre-Christmas club social event.

11. The Club benefits from perpetual trophies donated by Richard Pound for the Men’s and Ladies Singles competitions and has funded perpetual trophies for the Mixed Pairs competition and for the Most Improved player of the Year in memory of Les Patmore. The Club will fund the engraving of the annual winners’ names on these trophies and will also fund suitable memento trophies for the annual winners and runners-up of the three levels of the Competition.
